Financial Support

As part of our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion while supporting early-career members of the ISMIR community, the ISMIR Society, Widening Inclusion in MIR (WIMIR), and local organizers are pleased to offer several financial support opportunities for attendees who wish to participate in ISMIR 2026. 

We are also grateful to our generous industry partners, whose support makes it possible for us to provide these grants to our community members.

Forms of Support

Eligible applicants may apply for registration waivers (for in-person or virtual attendance), accommodation support, and travel coverage. Please note that travel and accommodation grants may be handled as direct reservations made through the conference organization, these are not reimbursement programs.

Grant Categories

Author Grants

Author Grants are available for first or supporting authors of accepted papers. These grants support both student and non-student authors, with priority given to student authors.

Music Author Grants

Music Author Grants are available for first or supporting authors of accepted music submissions. Similar to Author Grants, priority will be given to student creators, though non-student music authors are also eligible to apply.

Widening Inclusion in MIR (WIMIR) Grants

WIMIR Grants support conference participation for underrepresented groups in the MIR community. This includes but is not limited to individuals: from historically underrepresented backgrounds, with disabilities or accessibility needs, from gender minorities, from ethnic or racial minority groups, and with affiliations from lower-income economies.

Current WIMIR mentees (2025-2026) and LAMIR 2024 attendees are particularly encouraged to apply.

Childcare Grants

The purpose of childcare grants is to assist caregivers who need financial support to arrange for special childcare in order to attend ISMIR 2026. These grants will be offered as registration, accommodation, or travel grants - as a way to allow eligible attendees to save conference costs and dedicate them to facilitating the arrangement of childcare logistics.

Procedure and Timeline

Please apply for grants using this google form. You will be considered for all the grants that you qualify for, based on the information you provide in the application.
